Universität Duisburg-Essen – Dieser Name lässt bereits darauf schließen, dass die UDE nicht nur in einer Stadt zu finden ist. Die UDE hat sowohl einen Campus in Essen als auch in Duisburg. Zumeist finden die Vorlesungen und Seminare eines Studienfaches an einem einigen Campus statt, doch was ist zu tun, wenn nun doch einmal eine Veranstaltung am anderen Campus stattfindet? Immerhin liegen rund 20 Kilometer zwischen den beiden Standorten.
Mit dem Auto ist der Weg in rund 20 Minuten zu fahren (vorausgesetzt die Autobahn ist nicht durch den Verkehr verstopft). Nun hat jedoch die Mehrheit kein Auto und selbst wenn, dann ist die Parkplatzsuche keinesfalls lustig. Was also tun, um rechtzeitig zur Veranstaltung am anderen Campus anzukommen?
Die UDE bietet einen Shuttlebus an, der von einem Campus zum anderen pendelt. Dieser Bus fährt auf dem direkten Weg über die Autobahn erstmals ab 07.30 Uhr von Haltestellen an beiden Standorten. Von Montag bis Freitag hält der Bus am Campus Duisburg an der Lotharstraße und der Carl-Benz-Straße. Am Campus Essen stoppt der Bus bei Conrad auf der Altendorfer Straße, in der Nähe des alten Audimax, am Viehofer Platz sowie in der Nähe des Gebäudes R12. Der Service ist kostenlos, jedoch solltet ihr eure Studierendenausweise bei euch haben, um eure Zugehörigkeit zur UDE nachweisen zu können.

The name of our university (University of Duisburg-Essen) already indicates, that the UDE is not located in one city. The UDE has campuses the city of Essen and Duisburg. Most lectures and seminars for a particular subject take place on one campus, but some times you need to switch between the campuses. You might ask how to do this in time as they are about 20 kilometers apart.
The journey takes around 20 minutes by car (assuming there is no traffic jam on the highway). However, the majority of students do not have a car and even if they would have one, finding a parking space is not the easiest. So what can you do to get to classes on the other campus on time?
The UDE offers a shuttle bus that runs between the two campuses. This bus takes the direct route via the highway and departs from stops at both locations starting at 7:30 a.m. From monday to friday the bus stops at the Duisburg campus on Lotharstraße and Carl-Benz-Straße. At the Essen campus the bus stops at Conrad on Altendorfer Strasse, near the old Audimax, at Viehofer Platz and near the R12 building. The service is free but you should have your student ID cards with you to prove that you belong to the UDE if you would be ask to do so.
